Organizers:
Introduction: “Gib was VP of Product at Netflix starting in 2005. In 2010, he became the CPO of Chegg, a textbook rental and homework help company that went public in 2014. Today, Gib is a teacher, speaker, writer, and adviser.”
I do not plan to do Q and A, as it’s a short timeframe. It’s hard to predict specific timing, so occasionally I go two to three minutes over, which in this case I think is ok, given there’s a break next.
I prefer a wearable microphone and a monitor that mirrors my slides. I do not use any notes. Helpful if there’s water for me to drink within reach.
I use Google Slides for my presentation. While I prefer to present from my machine and it’s helpful to have a reliable internet connection, it’s straightforward to make the Google Slides available offline by accessing the “Edit” menu, then “Make Available Offline” and the presentation will be playable without internet. (You may need to ask me for permission within Google Slides to access this feature.) If we’re not using live internet, it’s good to make the presentation available on the machine in the last hour before the presentation as I make edits until that time. You can view the PDF above to get a sense of my presentation, but it’s a pdf so you can’t see any of the builds.
I have a fake ending. I signal to the audience that I am done, they will clap, but then I’ll ask for their feedback via a SurveyMonkey QR code. So don’t kill my slides until after I have collected feedback on my talk via SurveyMonkey link. (The PDF above doesn’t include this last-minute ask.)
If it’s fine to use my own machine, I have a dongle for the HDMI cable and clicker. I also have a dongle for a dedicated internet connection, if available.
My presentation does not have audio or video.
