To follow Gib on your favorite platform:

Organizers:

  • Introduction: “Gib was VP of Product at Netflix starting in 2005. In 2010, he became CPO of Chegg, a textbook rental and homework help company that went public in 2014. Today, Gib is a teacher, speaker, writer, and adviser.”

  • In the beginning, please share this link with the audience in chat/messaging to enable Slido polling: https://app.sli.do/event/gcopvegl

  • At the end of the talk, please share this link to gather feedback: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CapOneGB

  • At the very end, provide the link to this page: https://www.gibsonbiddle.com/capitalone

  • Important: the page you are looking at now is designed for organizers. Please don’t provide the link to the audience until the end of the session. I don’t want folks to “read ahead” — it spoils some of the surprises.

  • Gib’s cell: (650) 867-4338; email is gbiddle616@gmail.com

  • For event setup:

    • I do not have any embedded video/audio

    • I prefer Zoom but can use all platforms. If more than 200 participants, use webinar format, else use Zoom’s meeting format. In meeting mode, it’s easy for me to cold-call participants, so I don’t need a panel. If you’re not familiar with webinar v. meeting format, just go with a meeting format— it works well even with large audiences and is simpler to execute.

    • If webinar, please invite 2-4 audience members to participate on a panel. To build a diverse panel, it’s good if the majority of the panel, including me, is not male and white. (I am the 59-year-old white male that adds nothing to diversity.) Being a panelist is a fun, low-risk affair. During the cases, I ask the panelists what they think and whatever they say, I make them look smart! Requirements for panelists: not shy, use Netflix or other streaming services, speak relatively easy to understand English.

    • If a webinar, please provide me with a “normal” audience invite to the event via gbiddle616@mac.com. I set up two machines and my second machine is the normal audience experience, where my first machine is the panelist experience via my gbiddle616@gmail.com account. I am able to see the audience on my second machine, monitor chat, etc.

    • Recording the talk is fine as long as it is not provided to the public. Fine for internal audiences at Capital One. Please provide me with a link to the recording so I can watch it afterward.

  • Click here for additional resources for the organizers in advance of the event: description, promo materials, etc.

  • It will be fun!

Thanks,

Gib
