Notes to JPMorgan Organizers for virtual presentation:

  • I have the Zoom link and invite, and will get online 30 minutes early. I assume everyone participates from their own machine; let me know if that is correct.

  • Question: How many folks do you expect? Will you use Zoom in meeting mode, or is it set up as a webinar? If it’s a webinar, it’s fun/helpful to recruit a small 3-6-person panel of folks I can interact with during the presentation. I do lots of mini-cases, and while everyone can engage via Slido polls, sometimes it adds a little more when folks speak. In meeting mode, I will rely on you to mute all, but if I am looking for a volunteer to talk about a case, you would enable them to speak.

  • I will log on using two machines. The main one is where I present my slides. The secondary machine is where I monitor chat and can see the audience. You’ll occasionally see me glance awkwardly to my right-hand machine.

  • Role of the host, or whoever introduces me. We will chat casually, and it’s fine to interrupt me if anything weird is going on. If you can monitor the chat, that would be helpful. Also, when we get to Q&A, it’s useful if you ask me the question. Typically, we use upvoted Slido questions as the source of questions.

  • Intro: Introduction: “Gib was VP of Product at Netflix starting in 2005. In 2010, he became the CPO of Chegg, a textbook rental and homework help company that went public in 2014. Today, Gib is a guest lecturer at Stanford, a speaker, writer, and adviser.”

  • I often use Slido and provide a QR code for people to “vote” and both ask and answer questions. This link offers the same: https://app.sli.do/event/9z3BTKEMrE67iwuWvLo7pD

  • It's helpful if folks have wireless and their phones. It’s the easiest way to engage Slido.

  • Timing: I prefer a total of one hour. Sometimes I finish with ten minutes to spare—and answer questions—but, depending on engagement, it can take the full hour to complete the presentation. Do we have a must-finish time, or is it okay to answer more questions after 60 minutes? I don’t have a strict cutoff, but please let me know if you do.

  • My cell is 650 867 4338. It’s the same number for WhatsApp. My email is gbiddle616@gmail.com.

  • At the end of the presentation, I display a QR code to request feedback via SurveyMonkey. I usually get about a 50% response and will share the results with you after the session. You can also drop this link into chat when I pull up the QR code. It takes you to the same survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/biddleJPMorganChase

  • At the end of the presentation, you can also include the link to this page in the chat: https://www.gibsonbiddle.com/obsession

IGNORE: For in-person events:

  • I prefer a lavalier microphone, have a MacBook Pro with an HDMI port, and have my own dongle. I’ll need to borrow a clicker.

  • I like to see a monitor, and since I don't use notes, it’s fine to mirror my presentation to it.

  • I use Google Slides, so I need access to reasonable wireless.

  • I provided a PDF of the presentation, but note that the Slido pages look pretty different in a live presentation. Slido lets folks “vote” using a QR code and their phone.
